| In fact the Beach Waterpolo is a small waterpolo with simplified rules and reduced dimensions of the playing field (15 x 11.50 meters) which eliminates the timing and adds the concept of Set play. The first Italian Beach Waterpolo championship (male and female) began in 1995 and saw the participation of about a hundred successful Italian and foreign athletes, as well as various local government administrations who held the events. The third Championship in 1998 became the Coppa del Mediterraneo (the Mediterranean Cup) and involved four nations Italy, France, Malta and Monte Negro with international teams. In line with the rapid evolution of Beach Waterpolo, also the necessary revision of the equipment utilized has started, in particular the goal posts, which in this case have a specific dimension of 2.50 x 0.80 meters. |
